Today in Nauvoo brings smaller crowds and the hope for a break in the weather. As family tourists gear up for the upcoming school year, we see fewer families and more retired and empty-nest travelers. It is a great time to experience the history of Nauvoo, although the heat of the past few weeks seems to be more extreme this year.
I think it has more to do with the absolutely beautiful spring and early summer weather when we seldom had temperaturs the broke the 90's and had humidity in the 40% range instead of the 80% range. All of that makes the 90's now seem very warm indeed. It won't be too long and we will be cold and watching the majestic Eagles fishing in the Horton Lake pool on the Mississippi River, behind the Keokuk Dam. What a treat Nauvoo has in store for people from all walks of life! |
