Nauvoo Mayor reports on trip to Salt Lake City, Utah |
Mayor John McCarty recently returned from a business trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. During the short trip Mayor McCarty met with business leaders to explore ways to bring more jobs, including non-seasonal jobs and better paying jobs, to Nauvoo and the entire Hancock County area. (Many residents of Hancock County are very concerned about this lovely place after the recent announcement that Methode Electronics will be eliminating up to 500 jobs at their Carthage Facility.) After meeting with Bishop Burton of the Presiding Bishopric, Elder Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church, and various other meetings with business leaders, Mayor McCarty felt that the trip was well worth the time. "On a scale of 1 to 10 the trip was about a 30." Hancock County is truly a great place to live and enjoy the values of the hard working people who call this area home. Nauvoo and America's Heartland are as one person put it: "This is the loveliest place and the best people under the heavens." It was true when it was said and has continued to be true for over a hundred years.
