Local residents and the Chamber have the first meeting of the Halloween Walk committee this week. The annual Pumpkin Walk sponsored by the Nauvoo Chamber of Commerce brings about 5,000 people in on the last Saturday of October each year to view the intricately carved pumpkins.
Last year had only about 450 pumpkins, while the year before had just over 550 hand carved pumpkins, all lighted and viewed by thousands of people. It is a great family time for many from the area and an ideal time to see Nauvoo. Weather in autumn is cooler. The shows still perform nightly and rooms are more plentiful in autumn. |
